The Faculty of Science and Engineering harbours a kaleidoscope of disciplines to boost health technology

The faculty of science and engineering (FSE), supported by HTRIC, connects scientists, industry and students in the pursuit of developing solutions for more healthy years. We are home to a wide range of disciplines in the exact sciences and engineering.

Within our outstanding engineering disciplines, our researchers focus on key technological issues and fundamental questions, thus accelerating the emergence of future healthcare solutions. Our distinctive advantage lies in our ability to combine engineering research with the diverse scientific research landscape offered at RUG, enabling us to address intricate multidisciplinary sociotechnical dilemmas effectively.

Groningen Engineering Center (GEC)

Central to this effort is the Groningen Engineering Center (GEC), which plays a pivotal role by seamlessly bridging fundamental sciences with real-world applications within a comprehensive environment.

Through collaborative interdisciplinary efforts that encompass both process and product development and foster fruitful collaborations with industry partners, the GEC spearheads innovation in fields such as energy, materials, and health. Furthermore, the GEC trains the next generation of engineering leaders, equipping them with the skills and mindset needed to drive cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and innovation at regional, national, and European levels.

We offer the following engineering disciplines:

  • Advanced Radiation Technology and Imaging
  • Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science
  • Biochemical Engineering
  • Biomedical Engineering
