Design of a theranostic approach for patients with intestinal diseases: Application of innovative cell-selective delivery strategies for nanoparticles to fibroblasts and macrophages

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, I continued my academic journey with a master’s in Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Groningen. During my studies, I became fascinated by how nanoparticles can address numerous challenges related to the delivery and targeting of therapeutic agents. This interest in nanomedicine led me to my current PhD project at TRIC, where we focus on the therapeutic and diagnostic applications of nanoparticles for treating intestinal diseases.

Our goal is to design a cell-specific delivery system using nanoparticles that allows the local release of diagnostic and therapeutic compounds in the intestinal wall.

This project is applied by Prof. dr. Klaas Poelstra (GRIP), Prof. dr. Klaas Nico Faber (UMCG), and Prof. dr. Peter Olinga (GRIP) Project start: January 2025
